Day Twelve (MoA Countdown)

Through September I'll post all the things that I’m looking forward to in Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan and sort of hoping/thinking that could happen. A post every day! If I can stay in schedule, it's surely a miracle. 

Of course I hope I'm amusing someone else besides myself and I’d love to hear what you think, if you agree or disagree or if I missed something. Obviously not every thing is going to make the list, since I have exactly 32 things to post. The last one will go up on October 2nd. And if you're wondering, these are not in any special order. 

12)Basically the Lost Hero -trio meeting the Son of Neptune -trio

It could be awkward but it could be awesome. And I can’t wait! 

Just imagine them comparing notes about who did what. 

“Yeah, so we had a giant almost destroy the camp.”

“Yeah, we fought two of those too - Jason fought one hand to hand.”

“Wow. Well, we released Death. He totally looks like Cupid.”

“Oh really? Well we saved Hera from being force-married to a giant.”

“That’s pretty awesome.”

“Mm-mm.”

“Just a normal quest for a demigod.”

“Tell me about it.”

It’s going to be awesome. 

There're just so different personalities that are going to be interesting to see. And, what with both trios knowing of them being a part of the Great Prophecy, it's going to be interesting to see them meeting the other half. 

AND, they've gotten used to working with each other, so I'm looking forward to seeing them mixed up.

Day Eleven (MoA Countdown)

11) Battle plans

Oh, just imagine the Greeks joining a senate meeting? They have a lot of planning to and it probably won't go smoothly - I just want all the great minds working together and hey, the witty dialogue would overflow! And you bet Octavian will be annoying, trying to show his superiority. 

There are lot of things to do and you can just tell how there are going to be different opinions about how to do things and who will to them. Are there going to be several quests leading up to the big one in Greece? Who will lead? So many unanswered questions! 

And then, the details: Leo being funny, Percy being sarcastic, Reyna and Annabeth trying to be calm and all wisdom-full-y and Jason’s probably going to end up as the mediator. Hee.

10) NICO!

He’s one of my favorites, so tragic and so alone. The guy's had shitty luck so far and he just deserves something happy and for something to go his way. I seriously hope this series ends with Nico happy, with a home and having befriended trustworthy people (read: Hazel). 

I have a (bad) feeling that he could be an important pawn in the game but that his disappearance might get sidelined. There's so much going on, it's hard to tell what Riordan is planning (as usual). 

I just want all the heroes from the two previous books jumping on Argo II and charging to save him.

So I talked about posting a review (or something) about Wolfsbane this week. Well, that's not obviously happening - for a good reason! I've lost my notes that happen to be in a notebook and not on computer. So the notebook is lost somewhere... I'll try to find it soon but if I can't find it, I'll write a post without it.

The point of this is to say that I am going to post about Wolfsbane soon. I haven't forgotten or given up. It's only momentarily delayed. Bloodrose came in the mail on Thursday, so I'm anxious to read it.

One of my favorites today! 

9) Hazel meeting Leo

In my opinion, this is going to be awkward. I mean, we saw how big her reaction was to just seeing him in the message. And that's only minutes, maybe hours earlier than actually seeing him in the ship. And then there's the fact that she and Frank have only just realized how much they like each other - we don't know if they're officially together yet. 

But I really want to know about the connections between Sammy and Leo and basically, what is going there.

Yet another small detail in the big picture that, knowing Riordan, could be awesome.

8) Percy and Annabeth's reunion

This might just be the most coveted thing in the upcoming book. Almost all the talk about this book concentrates on these two. And I think it just might be for a good reason..

But really, this reunion just might be painful - I don't think Annabeth knows how much Percy remembers (since he had the advantage of Gorgon blood and Jason didn't and he doesn't remember everything) and I’m pretty sure she doesn’t want to make a big deal out of it in the middle of possible foes. It’s been eight months since they last saw, so I am hoping for a hug, maybe some slow motion running towards each other? 

But it’s at least going to be awkward since all the Romans are ready to attack. 

And I bet that Octavian’s going to start shouting something about Percy being a spy the moment he realizes Annabeth is his girlfriend. And that's the part I might be looking forward to a lot?

7) Jason reuniting with his friends

There are a lot of reunions in this list...

When we first saw Camp Jupiter, things were pretty bad and it felt like all the hope had left along with Jason’s disappearance. But now that he’s back and that they’ve got Percy as a praetor... It can be a really painful reunion, but I think they could be mostly happy to see him? 

But I can’t wait for everyone's reactions! Especially the Lares' and Dakota and Vitellius' reactions! I just want a group hug! Also, seeing Hazel introduce Frank to him. (And imagine his reaction when he hears that Gwen has left for college: the reason behind it and somebody - Frank I’m looking at you - tell him that it could be Octavian.)

6) Someone kicking Octavian's ass

Okay, this one's maybe my favorite in the whole list. 

There's nothing wrong with Octavian, but he just seems to be driven so much by his own selfish desires that he ends up hurting others along the way. I mean, if he learns that Ella can remember the Sibylline books, he probably won't care about her but will just use her. He reminds me a lot of Phineas. 

And, I'm still convinced that he's the one who stabbed Gwen in the back just because he was mad that the Fifth Cohort had won. 

I'd really like somebody to teach him a lesson - most preferably by Annabeth in his own game, but I won't say no to a literal ass-kicking. 

He actually seems like a smart guy and like he could be a decent guy - and he's written well. But he’s just one of those characters who are driven by their own desires and what they think is best but really might not be. 

So I hope someone'll show him that, so that he'll work with everyone towards defeating the Giants instead of thinking about being the strongest guy at camp.
