MoA Countdown Day Seven! (Well, not really)

(I was afraid this might happen and then it did! I'm so sorry I forgot to post yesterday, but today there's two posts!)

Through September I'll post all the things that I’m looking forward to in Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan and sort of hoping/thinking that could happen. A post every day! If I can stay in schedule, it's surely a miracle.

Of course I hope I'm amusing someone else besides myself and I’d love to hear what you think, if you agree or disagree or if I missed something. Obviously not every thing is going to make the list, since I have exactly 32 things to post. The last one will go up on October 2nd. And if you're wondering, these are not in any special order.

7) Jason reuniting with his friends

There are a lot of reunions in this list...

When we first saw Camp Jupiter, things were pretty bad and it felt like all the hope had left along with Jason’s disappearance. But now that he’s back and that they’ve got Percy as a praetor... It can be a really painful reunion, but I think they could be mostly happy to see him?

But I can’t wait for everyone's reactions! Especially the Lares' and Dakota and Vitellius' reactions! I just want a group hug! Also, seeing Hazel introduce Frank to him. (And imagine his reaction when he hears that Gwen has left for college: the reason behind it and somebody - Frank I’m looking at you - tell him that it could be Octavian.)

MoA Countdown Day Six

6) Someone kicking Octavian's ass

Okay, this one's maybe my favorite in the whole list.

There's nothing wrong with Octavian, but he just seems to be driven so much by his own selfish desires that he ends up hurting others along the way. I mean, if he learns that Ella can remember the Sibylline books, he probably won't care about her but will just use her. He reminds me a lot of Phineas.
And, I'm still convinced that he's the one who stabbed Gwen in the back just because he was mad that the Fifth Cohort had won.
I'd really like somebody to teach him a lesson - most preferably by Annabeth in his own game, but I won't say no to a literal ass-kicking.

He actually seems like a smart guy and like he could be a decent guy - and he's written well. But he’s just one of those characters who are driven by their own desires and what they think is best but really might not be.

So I hope someone'll show him that, so that he'll work with everyone towards defeating the Giants instead of thinking about being the strongest guy at camp.

Day Five! Countdown to MoA! WOOHOO!

(Today's post is a little since I actually had things to do! *gasp*)

Through September I'll post all the things that I’m looking forward to in Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan and sort of hoping/thinking that could happen. A post every day! If I can stay in schedule, it's surely a miracle.

It's been a week soon so I'm sort of excited. *happy dance*

5) Jason and Reyna... just talking?

Love triangles aside, these two must have been unstoppable as praetors and I see them as this kick ass team.

Anyway, I still can't wait for them to meet again! I firmly believe that these two are a formidable pair and that they'll take their enemies down swiftly and honourably. Octavian and the Giants should be shaking the in their boots just because of what these two can accomplish! And when you throw in Percy, you have three very frightening praetors in you hands...

I'm also not ashamed to admit that I'm sort of both looking forward to and slightly nervous about them meeting and trying to keep peace. I bet there's going to be some awkwardness and tension and maybe some bittersweet moments? So looking forward to that, especially since both might want to hug each other but you know they won't. At least I don't think so, I just see Reyna as more reserved and Jason's just that shy.

Day four of MoA countdown

4) Argo II & Festus

Am I the only one who cried when Festus broke down in the Lost Hero and Leo asked Hephaestus to take him back to Bunker Nine? Well, that scene just about breaks my heart.

The whole ship sounds awesome from what we already know and I bet that Leo has a lot of gadgets hidden there somewhere. Plus, it's a flying warship! With a fire-breathing dragon. I don't know what is more awesome than that.
And I'm excited to find out what the Romans think of the ship. After all, they don't think too highly of Greeks, but this has to impress even them, right?

MOA Countdown Day Three!

That title is so much better, it's not as long as the actual one..

Just a friendly reminder:

Through September I'll post all the things that I’m looking forward to in Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan and sort of hoping/thinking that could happen. A post every day! If I can stay in schedule, it's surely a miracle.

Of course I hope I'm amusing someone else besides myself and I’d love to hear what you think, if you agree or disagree or if I missed something. Obviously not every thing is going to make the list, since I have exactly 32 things to post. The last one will go up on October 2nd. And if you're wondering, these are not in any special order.

Today's post is going to be one of the things I've missed and am most definitely (hey, I spelled that right!) looking forward to. There are a few of these.

3) Leo Valdez.

Okay, raise your hand is you loved him the moment he opened his mouth? I sure did. While there's nothing wrong with Hazel or Frank (most certainly not!), when Leo popped up in the of SoN, I squealed.

Personally, Leo remins me of Percy. He doesn't believe in himself that much, he's loyal and incredibly funny. But most of all, I fell in love with him just as fast as I did with Percy.

The fun guys of the group are my weak spot, they get me everytime, but there's just something about Leo. He's somehow so young even though he's been through a lot and can take care of himself. But maybe it's his past that makes him so vulnerable somehow and I just wanna hug him and tell him that he's awesome.

It going to be interesting to see how he's going to act around the Romans and how they're going to react to him - for some reason I have a feeling that when they touch down, Octavian's going to start screaming for someone to attack and Leo's going to be all "Chill dude, we come in peace" and just generally be awesome. And I really can't wait for the Romans' reaction to Leo, since they're more rule-following and serious and here's a total goofball who's the commander of the ship and its designer.

And, it's also exciting to see what's his role in this upcoming war and what is going on with him and Nemesis. There's so much we don't know yet!
And my little shipper heart can't wait for him to meet Reyna.

Next time on Girl writes about books!

And before I forget: this whole month is not going to be just Mark of Athena this, Mark of Athena that, I'll try to post a review-ish thingie about Wolfsbane by Andrea Cremer sometime next week. I'm waiting for Bloodrose to come in the mail, so I'm not letting myself read the book before I've written something about Wolfsbane. Now that I've made a post about that, I'll seriously have to do it!

Day Two: Countdown to Mark of Athena

Welcome to day two of the Countdown to Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan. (Dayum, that's a mouthful.)

Through September I'll post all the things that I’m looking forward to in the book and sort of hoping/thinking that could happen.

Here's number two:

2) All the demigods using their demigod-ly powers.

Basically, I adore the battle scenes (or what should I call them) Riordan writes. They're not the main thing in the books but they're a part of them and most of the time they're awesome and you're lying if you're not holding your breath sometimes. Riordan doesn't glamorize anything, so it doesn't feel like a bloodshed, no matter if  they're fighting a Minotaur or dozens of Earthborns.

And I love how there's some humor in there, too.

But yes, I adore the battle scenes and especially, when one of the more obviously gifted ones bust a move that saves everyone's asses. So I'm looking forward to all the newly reunited and befriended heroes to kick some villain ass.

Special mention goes to Piper's charmspeak (am I the only one who wants to see Drew in there, too?), Leo's fire power and genius machine-building-talents, Jason throwing around some lighting and of course Percy with his waterbending (it's the only word I could come up with!).

Countdown to Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan

I'm on a PJO readathon, trying to prepare myself for Mark of Athena (also, I was bored) and I had a thought about what I was hoping could happen in it. Soon, I had twenty things written down and this list was born.

Through September I'll post all the things that I’m looking forward to in the book and sort of hoping/thinking that could happen.

So here goes number one on the Countdown list to Mark of Athena:

1) Annabeth Chase.

I thought we'd start with a bang. Obviously, it's going to be interesting to see inside Annabeth's head, since we've always seen her through Percy's eyes. Even more obviously this Mark of Athena thing sounds like serious trouble for everyone and it sounds like she might be in trouble, too.

But I have personal stakes in this one. Annabeth's never clicked for me beyond being possibly the best girlfriend Percy could have. But I'd like to know more about her. Yeah, it sounds weird even inside my head, but I've never felt any like or dislike for Annabeth, she's just been there.

And since I keep seeing this insane amount of hate towards her - for no obvious reason as far as I can tell, it's going to be interesting to see the fandom's reaction.
